Revel and I (and Revel’s parents) are taking a nice break from work/house hunting to visit San Francisco. The Ocean Spray annual meeting is out so it was a good reason to get away. We also got to visit with Revel’s grandmother and aunt. We come home tomorrow but it’s been a fun trip
Several weeks ago Michael and I stayed at the house in Middleboro during the weekend we worked at the Harvest Celebration. We awoke early in the morning and couldn’t believe the beauty of the water on the bogs. I’ve seen it my whole life but am still amazed of how peaceful the scene always is.
For the last couple of years Ocean Spray has been filming their commericals on my dad’s bog. My family is BIG into industry and are proud to be owners-members of the cooperative. Below are a few pictures of the filming they did this year.
Check out more pictures in this album.
We had a beautiful morning in the cranberry bog (right in front of Revel’s house), so I caught a few pictures of the fog and sunrise.
Check out all the great pictures in this photo album.
As part of the CCCGA Leadership Development Program, which I have been participating in for the last several months, a trip to Washington D.C was sponsored by First Pioneer Farm Credit. In Washington the Leadership Team met with Ron Carlton at Senator Kennedy’s Office, Trevor Dean at Senator Clinton’s Office, Peter Kovar at Congressman Frank’s Office, and with Congressman Delahunt. We emphasized the importance of cranberry industry in our state and throughout the country and the value of the Cranberry Research Enhancement Initiative in the 2007 Farm Bill.
Don’t we look brilliant!
Here are a few more pictures I took as we raced through the Capital from one appointment to the next:
I present to you Nicholi Vorsa (in the red jacket); an icon in the cranberry industry. He’s the guy who makes sure we have cranberry vines that will produce more and better fruit. Standing behind him is Joe DeVerna of Ocean Spray.
Here Mr. Vorsa is checking out one of his varieties called “Crimson Queen” that was planted on an AD Makepeace bog last spring.
Video of Sue Gilmore (Revel’s Aunt) on the Early Show on CBS last fall during the cranberry harvest.
Also check out some pictures Revel took behind the scenes.
